Robert Reimer is a regular guest in many international opera houses, including the Berlin Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Staatsoper Stuttgart, Royal Danish Opera and the Gran Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona, conducting operas such as Der Freischütz, Die Zauberflöte and Katja Kabánova, as well as ballet productions - Nutcracker, Swanlake, Peer Gynt and Onegin.
Born in Luxembourg, Robert received his first engagement as pianist and assistant to the music director at the Hessian State Theatre Darmstadt even before finishing his studies in Cologne and Düsseldorf. In his position as Kapellmeister, he conducted numerous opera and ballet performances and assisted many internationally renowned conductors: C. Eschenbach, S. Cambreling, M. Albrecht, M. Boder, J. Belohlavek, M. Schönwandt, R. Frühbeck de Burgos and D. Callegari at the Salzburg Festival and the opera houses of Paris, Copenhagen, Leipzig, Barcelona, Genève, Antwerp, Ghent and Brussels.
Subsequently he was invited to conduct in opera houses such as Cologne, Essen, Wuppertal, Leipzig, Copenhagen, Oslo and Düsseldorf/Duisburg, where he debuted with Don Giovanni.
His repertoire ranges from rare opera titles to works from the more standard repertoire, including Les dialogues des Carmelites (by F. Poulenc), Ariadne auf Naxos (by R. Strauss), Katya Kabanova (by Leos Janacek), Le nozze di Figaro, Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Lucia di Lammermoor, La Traviata and Die Fledermaus. Furthermore he has conducted some of the most popular ballets such as Tchaikovsky's The Sleeping Beauty at the Leipzig Opera, which was recorded for German TV (MDR) and broadcast on ARTE in 2004.
As a symphonic conductor Robert Reimer has worked with many important orchestras, such as the Leipzig Gewandhausorchester, the RSO Frankfurt, the Luxemburg Philharmonic, the Philharmonic Orchestra Strasbourg, the Royal Danish Orchestra, the Basel Sinfonietta or the Tonkünstlerorchester Niederösterreich. Record label "Hänssler Classic" published a CD conducted by him in their famous edition of "les ballets russes"(vol. 9) with the German Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and music by D. Milhaud, H. Sauguet and D. Scarlatti.
Recent engagements include the world premiere of The Little Mermaid at Finnish National Opera, Onegin in Copenhagen and Malmö, as well as Schubert’s Winterreise (H. Zender) at Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg and the Opéra Comique in Paris.
