DANIEL DJAMBAZIAN

Bass-baritone Daniel Djambazian was born in Marseille and raised in Los Angeles, he studied at the California State University and later on with Leo Ferri in Rome. In 2001 he sang the role of the young Pablo Picasso in an Italian premiere of "The Banquet" by Marcello Panni at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genova. Discovered by Gian-Carlo del Monaco, he was invited to sing at the Opéra de Nice in many roles, including Leporello in Mozart's "Don Giovanni", Samuele in Verdi's "Ballo" in Maschera, Jupiter in Offenbach's "Orphée aux Enfers", Roucher in "Andrea Chenier" and Grenvil in "La Traviata".

 

Currently a member of the ensemble at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, he appeared as Alidoro in "La Cenerentola", Don Bartolo in "Barbiere di Siviglia", Papageno in "Die Zauberflöte", Leporello in "Don Giovanni", Figaro in "Nozze di Figaro", Schaunard in "La Bohème", Monterone in "Rigoletto", Pistola in "Falstaff", Haly in "L'Italiana in Algeri", Samuele in "Un Ballo in Maschera", Le Dancaire in "Carmen", Giuseppe in "The Gondoliers", Pistola in "Falstaff", Monterone in "Rigoletto", Il Sagrestano "Tosca", Der Haushofmeister in "Capriccio" and Dulcamara in "L’Elisir d’Amore".  He also sang the roles of the Day Manager/Christian in the world premiere of Giorgio’s Battistelli’s new opera "The Fashion".

 

Guest performances brought him with Mathieu in "Andrea Chenier" to the Theatre du Capitole in Toulouse where he also sang  L’Officier in Nicolas Joel’s staging of "Les Dialogues des Carmelites", Next season he will sing Mathieu in "Andrea Chenier" at the Grand Theatre de Geneve.
