
Swedish-born baritone Gabriel Suovanen made his debut as Silvio in Stockholm , as Guglielmo in Helsinki , as Valentin in Savonlinna, as Morales in Brussels, as Donald (Billy Budd) in Barcelona, as Kullervo in Bern and as Marcello in Oslo. From 2002 - 2005 Gabriel Suovanen joined the ensemble of the Komische Oper Berlin where he sang Don Fernando, Papageno, Don Giovanni and Eugen Onegin among others.
During the ten past years Gabriel has had a huge success in Finland where he sang major roles such as Yeletsky in Pique Dame and Lescaut in Manon Lescaut and the role of Eugen Onegin alongside with Soile Isokoski at the Finnish National Opera in Helsinki. In the summer of 2006 he returned to the Savonlinna Opera Festival as Papageno. His following Onegin took place in April 2008 in Gothenburg and soon after he made his role debut as Gunther in Götterdämmerung for the Stockholm Royal Opera. In 2009 he sang the same role at the La Fenice opera in Venice under the baton of Jeffrey Tate.
In fall 2009 followed a huge success as Wozzeck at the Flanders Opera in Antwerp which led to an invitation for the same role at the Royal Opera House in Stockholm. His future engagements include also a role debuts as Heerrufer in Lohengrin at the Savonlinna Opera Festival and as Wolfram in "Tannhäuser" at Tampere Opera, Finnland. He will return to Gothenburg in the role Onegin.
In addition to his opera activity Suovanen performes frequently as a concert and lied singer and has performed with many distinquished singers and conductors.
