
was born in Tallinn and graduated from the Estonian Academy of Music as a violinist in 1997. During 1998-2002 he studied singing at the Universität für Musik in Vienna in the class of Prof. Gerhard Kahry. Juhan Tralla improved his singing skills under the guidance of Maestro Carlo Bergonzi at the Accademia Verdiana in Busseto.
Since 2000, Juhan Tralla has been under contract as a soloist at the Volksoper in Vienna, where he sang Marquis von Chateauneuf in Lorzing’s Zar und Zimmermann, Alfred in Die Fledermaus and Pio in Vives's La Generala etc.
From 2003 on, Juhan Tralla has been engaged at several theatres and concert halls in Estonia, Latvia, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Israel and Russia, singing more than 15 different roles, the most important of these being Tamino, Belmonte, Don Ottavio, Idomeneo, Tito, Don Ramiro, Rossini’s Otello, Almaviva, Nemorino, Des Grieux in Massenet's Manon, Rinuccio, Rodolfo, Alfredo, Duca and Narraboth in Salome. He recently sang the the title role in Otello by Rossini at the St Mauriz opera Festival. In this season he will interpret among others the title role of Lucio Silla by Mozart in Aachen and Duca di Mantova in Rigoletto in Tallinn.
As a concert singer Juhan Tralla has sung among others Bach's Mass in b-minor, Mozart's Requiem, Haydn's The Creation, Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle, Verdi's Requiem, Puccini's Messa di Gloria, Janacek's Das ewige Evangelium.
