
Estonian-born conductor Vello Pähn started his career at the Estonian State Theatre by conducting operas including Carmen, Madame Butterfly, La Traviata, Hovanštšina, L'Elisir d'amore, Duenja, Eugene Onegin and Le Nozze di Figaro. After have worked with the legendary dancer Rudolf Nourejev he was invited to conduct ballet productions at many of the world's leading theatres and ballet companies: since 1992 with the Hamburg Ballet and since 1988 at the Paris National Opera. He conducted also at La Scala in Milan, Semper Oper Dresden and Vienna State Opera. Recently he has returned to opera conducting among others The Flying Dutchman and Faust at the Savonlinna Opera Festival in Finland, La Traviata in Tallinn and Madama Butterfly and L’elisir d’Amore at the Berlin State Opera. His future engagements include Romeo et Juliette by Berlioz and Madame Butterfly in Paris.
