
studied in the legendary conducting class of Jorma Panula in Helsinki and with Sergiu Celibidache in Mainz, Germany. When Alberto was apointed Music Director in Stockholm in 2001, he was the youngest conductor ever to hold this position. For many years, Alberto has frequently conducted at the Finnish National Opera and the Savonlinna Opera Festival where he is specialised in the Italian repertoire. His international career highlights include productions of La Traviata and Il Trovatore with the Welsh National Opera, Macbeth in Santiago de Chile, Tosca at the Hedeland Festival in Denmark, Traviata at the Frankfurt Opera. He recently conducted L’elisir d’amore in Stockholm, Bellini’s Norma in Helsinki, staged by Renata Scotto, and a new Norma production in St Gallen. In 2005 Alberto returned to Finnish National Opera with Norma and Salome and jumped in with a very short notice to conduct Giordano’s Andrea Chénier staged by Giancarlo del Monaco. He recently conducted a new productions of Ernani in St Gallen and Lucia di Lammermoor at the Savonlinna Opera Festival as well as Carmen of the Finnish National Opera. His recent projects include among others La Bohéme in Graz and revival of Andrea Chénier in Helsinki. He also conducted there Il ballo in maschera in spring 2010. In next season he is invited to Malmö Opera with "Les contes d'Hoffmann" by Offenbach.
