Henri Maier

Artistic advisor

As assistant to the director of the Strasbourg opera, he was involved in the foundation of the Opéra du Rhin, and became administrator of the Ballet du Rhin. From 1983 he served as personal assistant to the General Manager of the Opéra National de Paris and was responsible for the artistic direction of the Opéra Comique (Salle Favart) in Paris.

In 1985 he was appointed General Manager of the two opera houses in Montpellier (Opéra-Comédie and Opéra Berlioz), at the same time he was artistic director of the Corum Cultural and Congress Center in Montpellier as well as Artistic advisor of the Marseille based opera studio CNIPAL (Centre National d'Insertion Professionelle d'Artistes Lyriques).

From 2001 to 2007 Henri Maier was Intendant of the Oper Leipzig. Since 2007 he is a highly sought-after lecturer and has taught in France, Canada, Russia, China and Japan. In 2008 he founded his company Opera Events, based in Konstanz, Germany.
