Italo-Ecuadorian tenor David Esteban made his recent role debuts as Cavaradossi Tosca, Alfredo La Traviata and Peter Grimes with Schleswig-Holsteinisches Landestheater. He performed Don José Carmen and Pinkerton Madama Butterfly with Vanemuine Theatre in Tartu as well as Carlo Giovanna D’Arco at the Estonian National Opera in Tallinn. In Bremerhaven he appeared as Cavaradossi Tosca and in Karlsruhe as Prince Rusalka. In summer 2024 he sang Alfredo La Traviata at the Hungarian National Opera in Budapest.
His plans for the current season include Don José Carmen in Quito, Ecuador, as well as Pinkerton Madama Butterfly in Savona, to be revived at several other venues in 2025. In November 2024 he will sing Turiddu Cavalleria rusticana concertante in Lausanne.
As a member of the ensemble at Theater Krefeld Mönchengladbach from 2018 until 2022 his repertoire included Don José Carmen, Ismaele Nabucco, Duca Rigoletto, Prince Rusalka, Orpheus Orpheus in der Unterwelt, Chevalier de la Force Dialogues des Carmélites, Laertes Hamlet, Simpleton Boris Godunov, Narraboth Salome, Tamino Die Zauberflöte, Tenor Meisterklasse and Kasimir Babylas Salon Pitzelberger.
His earlier guest appearances include Don José Carmen with Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg, at Auditorio de Zaragoza and the Tirana National Theatre. His role debut as Rodolfo La Bohème took place at Stadthalle Balingen. He performed Tamino Die Zauberflöte in Busan as well as Alfredo La Traviata and Edgardo Lucia di Lammermoor at the Ulsan Arts Centre in South Korea in 2019.
Among concert highlights have been Bruckner’s Te Deum at Liederhalle Stuttgart, Verdi's Requiem in Stuttgart as well as Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle in Stuttgart, Bergamo and Pavia. He participated in several opera gala concerts in Krefeld and Mönchengladbach.
David Esteban received his Bachelor’s degree from the Conservatory in Naples, Italy, and was a member of the Centro de Perfeccionamento Placido Domingo in Valencia in the 2014/2015 season. He sang Flavio Norma and Abdallo Nabucco at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia. Subsequently he obtained Master’s degrees from the Conservatory of Valencia and from the Opernschule Stuttgart, Germany. In a student production he sang his first Duca Rigoletto at Wilhelma Theater. He became prizewinner at the SOI Cedolins Competition 2022.
