Finnish mezzo-soprano Pihla Terttunen joined the soloist ensemble at Theater Vorpommern in the autumn of 2018. She has built up a varied repertoire including the title roles of Rossini's La Cenerentola, Gluck's Orfeo, Krenek's  Jonny spielt auf and Purcell's Dido and AeneasRuggiero AlcinaOrlowsky Die Fledermaus, Hermia in Britten's A midsummer night's dream, Hattie Kiss me, Kate, 3.Dame Die Zauberflöte, Bejlja Wir gratulieren!, Vokuhila in Offenbach’s Vent du soir, Prinzessin / Räubermädchen SchneeköniginInez Il Trovatore, Mina Murray in Wildhorn's musical Dracula. In the summer 2022 she made her house debut at Staatsoper Stuttgart as Messaggera/Speranza in Monteverdi’s Orfeo. Since 2022 she is appearing as a guest at the Finnish National Opera, as Zweite Dame in Barrie Kosky’s production of Die Zauberflöte, in the production CircOpera 2.0. and this season as Orlovsky Die Fledermaus. 

As a member of the Thüringer Opernstudio 2017/2018 Pihla Terttunen sang Dritte Dame Die Zauberflöte, Marcellina Le Nozze di Figaro, 2nd witch Dido and Aeneas and Paquette Candide with Nationaltheater Weimar as well as Giovanna Rigoletto and Merope/Sphinx in Enescu’s Oedipe with Theater Thüringen in Gera. As a guest she has appeared as Orlovsky in Kiel and as Marcellina in Weimar. She made her role debut in the title role of Rossini’s La Cenerentola at Theater Rudolstadt in 2017. She has sung Hänsel Hänsel und Gretel with the Sibelius Academy Opera and in concert with Jenaer Philharmonie. In student productions she performed Olga Eugene Onegin, Charlotte Werther, 3.Knabe Die Zauberflöte, Medoro in Haydn’s Orlando Furioso, Poulenc’s mono-opera La voix humaine and several roles in Finnish contemporary operas.

Pihla Terttunen graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the Metropolia University in Helsinki and obtained a Master’s degree in 2016 at the University College of Opera in Stockholm. She won 2nd prize at the competition Grande Voci 2016 in Salzburg and 2nd prize at the Timo Mustakallio Competition 2013. In concert she has sung at the Classic Open Air Berlin with Philharmonisches Orchester Vorpommern, conducted by Florian Csizmadia, and in a gala concert with Staatskapelle Weimar, conducted by Kirill Karabits. She has performed solo parts in Händel's Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem and Missa brevis, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Bach’s Mass in B minor and Mahler’s Rückert-Lieder.
